PORTEZUELO BEACH
Between the mythical Punta Ballena and the wild Punta Negra is Portezuelo Beach, one of the most beautiful places on the Uruguayan coast to contemplate the sunset. It is at kilometer 117 of the Interbalnearia, before reaching Punta del Este, 5 kilometers after the Laguna del Sauce Airport.
PUNTA BALLENA VIEWPOINT
The Punta Ballena viewpoint in Maldonado is a unique and magical place. Located at the end of Punta Ballena, it offers an impressive and spectacular view of the city, the sea and the coast. From there you can see the skyline of Punta del Este with Gorriti Island on the left, Portezuelo beach on the right and Casapueblo, built by the Uruguayan painter Carlos Paez Vilaro. The place is perfect for watching the most beautiful sunsets in the country.
CASAPUEBLO
Built in open struggle against the straight line and with the concept of a bread oven, it is the maximum work in the architecture of Carlos Páez Vilaró, who modeled it with his own hands for more than forty years. There he lived, worked and treasured his collections.
The Museo Taller is located in the center of the large building and exhibits the works of its creator, the Uruguayan master Carlos Páez Vilaró, a multifaceted artist and muralist par excellence.
THE PORT
The port of Punta del Este is the most important marina in Uruguay and one of the most important in the region. It is located at the confluence of the Río de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean and offers five marinas, wall and bollard moorings and a protective breakwater with pier for the mooring of sport boats.
GORLERO AVENUE
When visiting Punta del Este we cannot forget one of its main streets, Gorlero Avenue. This artery is considered the heart of the city, since in addition to being a nice day and night walk, it offers tourists a wide variety of stores of various items, among which are clothing, food, handcraft, souvenirs, etc..
LA BARRA
La Barra de Punta del Este is one of the best known places due to the movement and style of this area of Maldonado. During the summer season the most exclusive discotheques and the high social class of the Rio de la Plata arrive not only in search of fun but also to spend a pleasant and quiet vacation.
